GERMANY - HAMBURG
KINDERTAGESSTÄTTE AM BLUMENACKER
We are a
KITA (KInderTAgeseinrichtung) in a suburb of Hamburg. KITA stands for a house
where children from 0 years to 12 years, live together the whole day. We are
open from 6 in the morning to 6 in the evening. The school-children leave
school at 1 p.m., than come to the Kita, have their meal and do their homework.
We look after 185 - 190 children.
Most of the
parents are working; a lot of them are single parents. Hamburg is a city with
many immigrants. In our Kita we have children from Africa, Turkey, Afghanistan,
Poland …
Our suburb
is an old part of the city with nice small houses in a green aria. We have not
many social problems.
Hamburg is
a city with a big harbor and formed by a long tradition of trade and
navigation. Hamburg is an open city for peoples from all over the world. Today
we have many tourists here, because Hamburg is a worth seeing city.
One of the
important points for our institution is "Education from the beginning“.
Our theme
about sea, harbour and ships is a good medium for our destination for the
children:
- To see
themselves,
- To
integrate themselves in a system and to look where´s the own place
- To search
for the own culture, Hamburg as an old habor-city has a lot of places to go and
look for the history.
- To have a
look „over the wall“,
- To
understand, to compare and discover people from other countries.
For our
teachers it is necessary to be in contact with teachers of other countries,
because they have to transfare their experiences to the children.
